REPORT | Carlisle United Ladies 1-5 Chester FC Women
Chester FC Women advanced into the First Round of the Argyle Sports Kit North West Regional Plate with a thumping win at Carlisle on Sunday.
Martin Fitzsimons’ side, who were unchanged from the 8-3 win over Alder, once again conceded first as an unfortunate own goal came after 9 minutes.
But they bounced back in emphatic fashion in the Preliminary Round in Cumbria to advance. The game was turned on its head by half time as first Lucy Adderley converted from the spot after Emma Gray was felled in the box – before Gray released Ellie Bradley to make it 2-1 after 41 minutes.
After the break Katie Priest made it three on 53 minutes with a scorching strike from 30 yards, before Gray tapped home on 73 to make the game safe. Molly Wood made it eight goals in three games late on for herself after being assisted by Ellie Bradley.
An excellent victory on the road which means the Blues move on to host Tranmere Rovers in Round One.
