Chester FC are delighted to announce the signing of defender Dan Cowan!
The 25-year-old joins the club after ending the curtailed 2020/21 season at fellow National League North side Curzon Ashton.
Cowan began the most recent campaign at Guiseley, having moved to Nethermoor after three successful years at Stockport County – being a big part of their title winning side in 2019.
A versatile, tall and athletic defender that can play anywhere across the defensive line, Cowan progressed through the youth setup at Macclesfield before earning a professional deal in 2014. He made 50 appearances for the Silkmen and also had loan spells at Ashton United and Chorley.
Joint Manager Anthony Johnson said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Dan to Chester.
“He is somebody myself and Bern have been tracking over a number of years since his Macclesfield days. He went to Stockport and had lots of success on the field, playing a variety of positions across the defence.
“He’s won this division before and is tactically astute. Dan can play alongside Danny Livesey and Simon Grand, or he can play next to one of them in a back four.
“One thing we lacked last year at times was the ability to match the bigger sides in this league.
“We’ve thought about that in our recruitment, and we are getting a player of a good build, stature and is extremely athletic at a height of 6’2/6’3.
“Add to that the fact he is a leader and a great communicator with plenty of experience – but just hitting his peak at the age of 25 – this is a massive coup for the Club.”
Our newest recruit will give his first interview on this Saturday’s Episode of The Seals Podcast!
Welcome to Chester FC, Dan!
