Chester FC are pleased to confirm that we have activated the option to extend the contract of John Johnston for the 2021/22 campaign.
The 26-year-old winger was in fine form before the curtailment of the season, scoring his maiden Blues goal in stunning fashion against Hereford in December in a 5-3 victory.
JJ joined the club from Altrincham in January 2020 and has since made 27 appearances, scoring two goals. His second strike coming in what was to be our final game of this term at Bradford (PA).
Blues Joint Manager Anthony Johnson had this to say: “We’re thrilled to be able to retain JJ for next season.
“He has come into his own and started to show everyone why we brought him to the club at the beginning of 2020.
“His numbers last season were exactly what we expected of him and he frightened teams to death with his direct running and constantly put them on the back foot allowing us to get up the pitch quickly.
“We have no doubts whatsoever he’ll be a standout performer throughout the leagues next season and can’t wait for you all to see the best version of him.”
Great to have you staying on board, JJ!
John Johnston is now signed up for 2021/22, will you be joining him?
