MILESTONE | George Glendon reaches 50 games for Chester FC!
Congratulations to Blues Captain George Glendon, who played his 50th game for the club in our 3-0 victory over AFC Telford!
Once again, the skipper led by example in the middle of the park yesterday – pushing Chester on to an important win to kick off 2021.
The signing of ‘Glenno’ was seen as a coup for the club in August 2019, and certainly didn’t disappoint with his performances.
Whilst initially arriving on a short-term deal, the central midfielder committed his future to the club a month later, before three consecutive Man of the Match awards would follow for George for the Blues between the end of September and middle of October in 2019 – as he notched his first goal for the club in the process against Leamington.
He ended the 2019/20 campaign with 30 appearances under his belt, contributing two goals and four assists – that was after signing a new 18-month deal at the start of the calendar year – a sign of his importance to the team.
The Joint Bosses Bern and Jonno were quick to give Glendon the armband in the summer, saying he was a ‘standout candidate’.
George dubbed it a ‘massive honour’ and that he owed a lot to the Managers – and he’s certainly repaid their faith with an incredible start to this season.
Another string of Man of the Match awards have come, including four goals and five assists already in the first 20 games of the season.
He is a key man for the Blues, a midfield maestro, and is flourishing in a talented side.
