Chester make the trip to Yorkshire to kick off the New Year, and face Guiseley for the second time in the space of a week.
Paul Cox’s side could not capitalise on their Boxing Day victory over the Blues, and fell down 4-0 to Tranmere Rovers in their previous National League encounter.
Callum McFadzean and former-Blues loanee James Roberts netted in the first half as the Lions breezed to victory at the Swansway last week, and moved above the Blues into 21st place.
Guiseley’s hammer blow at Prenton Park however changed the picture at the bottom, as the Blues crept back into the final relegation place on goal-difference.
The Lions were winless in their last seven games going into Boxing Day’s victory, and currently have only two home wins to their name in this campaign so far.
Adam Lockwood was sacked as Lions boss in the early stages of the season, and Cox’s appointment signalled a switch to full-time football for the West Yorkshire-based outfit.
Their side includes former-Chester midfielder John Rooney, who made 126 league appearances for the Blues before making the switch over the border to Wrexham. His time in North Wales didn’t quite go to plan, and a loan spell to Nethermoor Park followed in the subsequent January transfer window.
ONE TO WATCH
Alex-Ray Harvey – Midfielder
Harvey joined the Lions from Barrow following the arrival of Paul Cox as Manager for an undisclosed fee.
The 27-year-old had a transfer request accepted by the Barrow hierarchy, and put an end to a five-and-half-year spell in Cumbria – where he made over 200 appearances for the Bluebirds.
A comfortable and tidy midfielder, Harvey is known for his ability to be a tough character in the middle of the park, and orchestrate positive movements to create goal scoring opportunities.
Kick off at Nethermoor Park tomorrow is 3pm. Segregation is in place tomorrow. Entry to the Ground for Away Supporters is Via Turnstiles 5 -8 at the Railway End of the Ground.
Away Supporters travelling independently should follow the Signs around the Ground to Turnstiles 5 -8 or ask Stewards for advice on Location.
