Evan signed for Chester FC in July 2016 following his release from Northampton Town, who had just gained promotion to League 1.

Having started his career as a youth prospect at Sheffield United, Evan spent the first 4 years of his senior career on loan at various clubs including Stockport County, Scunthorpe United, York City, Darlington, Gretna and even played 1 game for Chester City in 2006 before returning to Bramhall Lane.

He then went on to sign for Carlisle United, where he played 77 games for the Brunton Park side during a two year spell from 2008-10, before then joining Hartlepool United where he made 123 appearances scoring 5 goals in the process. A short spell at Tranmere Rovers followed before making the switch to Northampton Town after a successful loan period with the Cobblers.

Evan played 11 games on-loan at promotion winning Grimsby Town last season before he returned to Sixfields, but was then released prompting Jon McCarthy to snap the 30 year old up in July on a one year deal.
