Chester FC's Physio, Will Osborne takes us into the Treatment Room again at the Exacta once again, as part of his regular blog update, and this week he's been looking after a few of the lads, and trying to keep Simmo out of the room!...
It's been another busy few weeks in the treatment room, with some routine injuries management, and some not so routine! And it's been good to see some of the lads returning to the squad.
Let me start with the cast wearing Chris Simm. An unfortunate accident at home left him at one stage wearing casts on both wrists, which must have made some daily activities quite difficult! After being given the good news that he had only broken one of his wrists, he was grateful to be given the OK by the referee for Saturday's cup game, however it needed some padding.
Simmo seems to spend most of his spare time before games in the physio room, even when he's not injured. Either his pain threshold is pretty low, or he just enjoys winding me up every week! Simmo will be out of his cast once the fracture is healed before wearing a lighter splint.
I was in the gym with the lads last week, and couldn't wait to test out a few of their 'core strengths'. The strength of your core plays a huge role in the ability to allow your upper and lower body to work at its maximum. Put it this way, some were better than others, but I gave a few ab- chiselling exercises to those who needed it, so you should see some improvements physically on the pitch in the coming months!
Christian Smith and Jerome Wright are now back in training following their respective injuries, with Jerome happy to make a substitute appearance on Saturday. The two of them are keen to regain their fitness and need the minutes on the pitch.
Ash Williams will now have an operation on his injured shoulder on advice from an orthopaedic surgeon. We wish him all the best in his recovery from this.
Make sure you wear pink next week!
