Chester FC claimed their first piece of silverware of the season as they ran out three-nil winners in the Peter Swales Trophy. Chester were the stronger of the two sides throughout and won thanks to a hat-trick from Marc Williams.
With just two minutes on the clock the home side had the ball in the back of the net, Matty McGinn's free kick being converted by Marc Williams but the referee disallowed the goal due to a push on Liam King.
Chester went close again as Antoni Sarcevic played a beautiful ball over the top to Adam Proudlock, Proudlock shot low and forced the Ferriby 'keeper into a smart save at his near post.
Despite Chester having the majority of possession in the half there were very few efforts on Adam Nicklin's goal and at half time it was 0-0.
The visitors came out in the second half with a new sense of belief and a Steve Ridley effort had John Danby concerned but it went just wide of the right hand post.
The belief was soon quashed as Chester took the lead, Wes Baynes' corner was flicked on by Dave Hankin and Marc Williams was there at the back post to head it home.
Moments later and Chester had doubled their lead, with the same combination, Wes Baynes again with the corner and after the ball bouncing around the penalty area Marc Williams did well to get his second of the game.
The introduction of Nathan Jarman, who came on after the first goal, seemed to revitalise The Blues up top and the hardworking striker did well to create two chances, the first using his strength to hold off a challenge but was hit over the bar and the second was well saved by the goalkeeper when Jarman had got one on one.
Another chance fell to Jarman, this time after Marc Williams squared the ball to him but the strikers shot was straight at Adam Nicklin, from the rebound his header came off the crossbar.
Jarman again came close, this time in the last ten minutes, after some brilliant control he beat the defender but his shot was saved by Nicklin again.
Into injury time and Nathan Jarman beat the offside trap again, he repayed the favour to Marc Williams from earlier, this time Williams finished confidently to complete the goalscoring.
