Chester FC Youth have a shot at some silverware when they take on Curzon Ashton Youth in the NWYA Premier Division Cup Final on Sunday 7th May.
This is the fourth meeting of the two sides this season with Curzon the victors on two occasions at the Tameside Stadium with Chester claiming victory at The Cheshire Sports Club.
Curzon Ashton are likely to claim the NWYA Premier Division title next week while Chester FC have cemented second position. The game kicks off at 2.30pm at Skelmersdale United FC. It is the penultimate game of the season for a Chester Youth side that enjoyed a sensational run in the FA Youth Cup, making history in reaching the Third Round Proper of the competition, eliminating Fleetwood Town and Bolton Wanderers along the way.
Academy Head Coach Calum McIntyre said: “It’s going to be a real challenge this Sunday. We’ve had a great season and I think everyone will look back at the FA Youth Cup and acknowledge how special that was for the football club. That said, we are determined to try and end the season with some silverware.
"It’s strange for us to go into a game like this as underdogs really isn’t it? Curzon have had a magnificent season and are likely to be crowned champions after the weekend. That said, they will know they could have clinched it a lot earlier and will recognise their games against us as their toughest tests.
"The frustration for us is we have actually both played 19 games and over that many games we have as many points as one another. This year only 18 games are relevant and that is frustrating for us. We have shown ourselves to be a bit of a cup team this season and will look to put in our best showing on Sunday afternoon.”
A reminder that kick off is 2.30pm at Skelmersdale United. The Youth Team are in action here at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium on Wednesday 10th May in their final league game of the season against Prescot Cables. Kick off is 7.30pm
