Chester earned themselves a replay at the Swansway Chester Stadium having defended for their lives to draw 0-0 at Oakwell against League One side Barnsley, backed by an amazing 2,143 travelling Chester fans.
Chester could have found themselves in front in the first half when Craig Mahon burst through the left side of the area and shot low, which was deflected up onto the crossbar and agonisingly Craig Hobson was just far ahead of the ball to get his head to the rebound.
The Blues were denied a half time lead when Craig Hobson headed goalbound but could only find Joe Dudgeon who stopped it from going over the line although most of the Chester fans at the opposite end thought the ball had gone in but replays confirmed that the ball had been cleared legally.
In an action filled second half, both sides had efforts cleared off the line with Matty Brown heading away from the goal line on the second minute of injury time, when it seemed that Barnsley may just sneak it.
But before that, Craig Mahon had burst through and had his effort somehow clawed away by Ross Turnbull in the Barnsley goal.
