Chester FC won their first game in charge under new manager Steve Burr. Lewis Turner fired the Blues ahead before Jake Hyde thought he'd got a point for the visitors but Jamie Reed's late winner ensured Chester fans went home happy.
Hours after Steve Burr was confirmed as the Chester manager the Blues took on Barnet, making just ones change from the side that took on Gateshead; with Kevin McIntyre coming back in for Joe Heath.
The game started fairly evenly with neither side creating clear cut chances.
Chester's first chance of the game fell to Jamie Reed, Tom Peers' flicked header found the Blues striker chested the ball and shot on the turn but it went over the bar.
Barnet had the ball in the net as Jake Hyde turned in a cross but the linesmans flag was up.
The first goal of Steve Burr's reign went to the Blues as Lewis Turner's effort beat Nicky Jupp from long range.
Chester nearly had a chance to increase their lead as Tom Peers turned Luisma Villa but the Barnet man brought Peers down, receiving a yellow card in the process.
The second half continued in a similar fashion as the first, with neither side creating too many chances. Luisma Villa's free kick was well saved low down by Danby 10 minutes into the half.
John Rooney tried a long range effort that was just wide of Jupp's post.
Chester looked to hit Barnet on the counter as the visitors pressed down the wing but both with little creativity.
Substitute Craig Lindfield nearly doubled the lead as he cut in from the left wing and fired an effort just over the bar.
With six minutes remaining Barnet equalised on the counter attack. Harry Crawford charged down the right wing before picking out unmarked Jake Hyde, who headed back across goal and past Danby.
The Blues heads didn't drop though and Lewis Turner turned provider as his ball to the far post picked out Jamie Reed who tapped in at the back post to secure a huge victory.
