Chester FC 2 Oxford City 0

Chester FC got back to winning ways against Oxford City after a delayed kick off, due to the visitors arriving late after being caught in traffic. Paul Linwood's first of the season got The Blues underway before Nathan Jarman's eleventh of the season settled the three points for Chester.

Chester started brightly as Danny Williams won a free kick just inside the Oxford half, Wes Baynes stepped up to take it and picked out Paul Linwood who's looping header from the edge of the penalty area found it's way past Matt Ingram.

The Blues continued to press and December's Player of the Month, Antoni Sarcevic, did brilliantly, winning the ball on the left wing before playing a one-two with Marc Williams and breaking into the Oxford box to get a shot away which Ingram got down well to save.

Marc Williams began dropping deep to link up play and it was his ball in that found namesake Danny, he burst into the area before crossing to find Jarman at the back post but he couldn't get the ball out of his feet and the chance was gone.

George Horan went close from a Wes Baynes corner as he headed back across goal, Paul Linwood tried to convert on the line but the ball got stuck under his feet and Oxford were able to clear.

The second half started the same way as the first, with Chester in the ascendancy, from an incomplete clearance of a corner Sarcevic shot from twenty five yards before Ingram pushed it round the post.

Oxford continued to struggle in clearing their lines and Dave Hankin was able to pick out Jarman who headed over.

Chester finally were able to make their dominance pay. Nathan Turner played a lovely ball over the top to Nathan Jarman, who turned superbly and finished brilliantly into the bottom corner just as the defender appeared to be closing the gap.

The Blues continued to press and a lightning counter attack nearly lead to a stunning third as Nathan Turner picked out Antoni Sarcevic at the far post, the prolific midfielder was unable to add to his tally of five in his last eight games as Ingram saved well from his volley, after that the game petered out as The Blues remained in control.
