Chester FC extended their lead at the top of the Blue Square Bet North to twelve points, with second placed Guiseley having two games in hand, and made it eighteen victories in twenty matches in the league.A stunning strike from Antoni Sarcevic and a Dwayne Samuels own goal were enough for The Blues to claim the three points.
Despite being delayed by fifteen minutes the visitors started brightly as Dave Merris' corner was flicked onto the post by Shane Killock before Chib Chilaka turned his effort wide at the back post.
The visitors continued to press and Dwayne Samuels broke with place down the right before pulling it back to Chilaka who lifted it over Danby before being ruled offside.
Chester had chances themselves as Wes Baynes played it to Craig Curran before Ben Mills got a glancing header to but it went out for a throw in.
Mills was at the forefront of Chester's chances as he turned and shot low to force MacGillivray into a good save low to his left.
Next it was the hosts chance to hit the post as Matty McGinn's corner was headed onto the post by Paul Linwood.
The best chance of the half fell to Ben Mills though as the Chester forward broke through the back line and shot low but Craig MacGillivray stuck out a leg to push the ball away.
After a tightly fought first half Chester dominated the second. The deadlock was broken by a stunning strike from Antoni Sarcevic, lifting the ball over a Harrogate defender before striking it low, with MacGillivray unable to keep his effort out, it was the Chester midfielder's ninth goal of the season.
Sarcevic turned provider for the second, cutting the ball back from the byline before rebounding off Dwayne Samuels into his own goal.
Wes Baynes saw his shot from 25 yards pushed away by MacGillivray in the dying stages but the second half performance was enough for The Blues to claim the three points.
