Chester FC 0 Brackley Town 0

Chester FC endured a frustrating nil-nil draw to third placed Brackley Town. The visitors set out their stall early on, defending solidly with eight men often behind the ball and The Blues were unable to break them down despite large spells of possession.

With a long time between recent league fixtures both sides struggled to impress in the first half. Brackley were content to sit back and defend in two solid backs of four and Chester struggled to move the defence round and create chances.

Brackley were trying to play on the counter attack but struggled to create chances all half. Chester's first chance came via a Wes Baynes free kick, which he curled around the wall, bouncing infront of Turley but the veteran 'keeper was able to push the ball away.

Ben Mills had a golden chance to give Chester the lead as he got on the end of a George Horan flick on but he couldn't get over the ball and headed wide.

The final chance of the half came as Nathan Jarman just couldn't reach a through ball but Turley could again only parry and Danny Williams couldn't connect to the rebound with the goal gaping.

As Chester looked for a spark in the second half Neil Young turned to substitute Marc Williams and Williams came close to breaking the deadlock as he was inches away from getting on the end of a Matty McGinn corner.

The substitution seemed to breathe new life into Chester as he created room for Nathan Jarman, Jarman did well to chip up a Dave Hankin cross and shoot on the turn.

Chester continued to attack but struggling to break down the visitors. Wes Baynes' free kicks continued to look the best way of the hosts scoring, his first left Turley stranded as it went wide, shortly followed by a second that went just over the bar.

Brackley continued to defend in numbers and Chester couldn't find a way to break the visitors down and were forced to settle for a point.
