Alty vs The Blues : The Preview

Christmas might be one day removed, but Blues boss Steve Burr would have had a third win on the spin top of his Christmas wishlist for 2015.

A 2-0 win two weeks ago at AFC Telford in the FA Trophy was followed up with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Torquay at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium seven days ago.

Ross Hannah bagged a hat-trick in that game, and will be looking to add to his incredulous scoring form - 11 goals in the last nine games.

That victory saw the Blues begin the festive fixtures in 14th position - ten points off the play-offs.

The short trip to Moss Rose sees the Blues face an Alty side who have picked up six points in their last five games - sitting in 19th position and just four points shy of the relegation zone.

George Bowerman and Michael Rankine are the two joint top scorers for the team in red this season - they have five goals apiece.

Lee Sinnott's side did the double over Chester last season in what was also a Christmas and New Year double-header - defeating the Blues 4-1 in the corresponding fixture last season, John's Rooney got the goal for Steve Burr's side.
